Infidel is the musical work of Gordon MacLachlan, formerly of St Andrews, Scotland, and now living and working in the south of England.
To hear Infidel (circa 2005) you can download some tracks from the 'If You Wanna Rock' CD here.
Infidel's sound ranges from light, 80s-influenced pop, to heavy, distorted guitar rock through various other things along the way...
7-12-2011 Here We Go Again
How the year has flown...
Some songs are finished. I've posted some stuff on SoundCloud. Working on 15 year old songs still manages to be rewarding sometimes.
It'll be finished when it's ready.

2-12-2010 Loud And Clear
Oops - I'm updating early this year...
I've actually done a lot of work, especially in the last six months. Orchestral-style music has been done, a few new rock songs, I even did some dancey stuff again. Some of it is in postable condition and will be shared shortly.
Now about that band thing...

16-12-2009 Can You Hear Me Major Tom?
Answer: yes, but I don't feel like answering much...
I've actually done quite a lot of music this year. But, yet again, I've not really finished any of it. I have a far nicer studio than I've ever had before and I get in front of it more often than I have. I've done a lot of orchestral/soundtrack style work and a little rock oriented stuff. Maybe, I'll even finish something this year(!).

15-12-2008 This is Major Tom to Ground Control...
A day short of a year since the last update... yurgh. I've still been working on music, but it's been a long year and there's been various disappointments and problems on the way. I'm approaching writing with a much more open mind these days which is helping to get the creative juices flowing again and leading to some much more varied results. I may post some soon.
Newswise: Infidel is not really about even pretending to be a rock band any more. There may still be rock songs, but there's going to be plenty of other random stuff too. The whole rock band thing was just blocking me from doing anything and frustrating me. It still, sometimes feels like nothing is ever going to be produced again, but I keep chipping away and it does seem to be getting easier now.
Hopefully I'll post again sooner this time. I hope you like the new colour.

16-12-2007 Christmas Song
I've been working on a Christmas song to be sung by me and some of my friends. It's been quite nice to work on something without worrying about it being good enough for anything serious. I'm very pleased with it so far - it's the most cheesy, vulgar, awful thing I've ever written :)

28-11-07 New Song and Transport
I began a completely new song on Saturday and the results are very encouraging (first time in about a year) - working title is "One by One". Additionally, Infidel now has transport - I bought a car.

11-11-07 New Drums
I've been working pretty hard on the songs, especially 'In The End', 'I Tried To Forget You' and 'Through'. I've finally replaced the dodgy drum samples I've been using for the last decade with something from this century and I'm just trying to get something approaching a definitive vocal recorded. I've been finding the going tough, but the more I do, the easier it's becoming.

23-10-07 Slow Progress
It's hard to find time to proceed with all the projects presented to me at the moment. I've been recording a lot of stuff. Each time it's better than the last, but I realize at some point I've got to finish something off and leave it. The website is currently undergoing a major face-lift (behind the scenes) and I hope to be able to present this and some new recordings soon.

9-9-07 New Songs
There are new songs currently being worked on under the titles of: 'Crash & Burn', 'Think What You Like Of Me', 'Through', 'I Tried To Forget You' and 'The Black Jack of Diamonds'. Some are in a better state than others, but all are progressing nicely.
Also, the website should show some marked improvement soon with some more about these and other Infidel songs.

22-8-07 Resumption
After a long hiatus Infidel shall return. It's environment has changed, there is but one musician left, but there may still be some fight in the old dog yet. There is new material, new skills and new instruments just waiting to be fleshed out and revealed again.
And a new logo - surely the most important thing for any project...
Watch this space.

Downloads
New material is in the final stages of production, but, ironically, due to the improvements in Infidel's recording equipment, the actual time to completion of songs has grown. Tracks should be available for download in the near future.

If You Wanna Rock (2005)
(Infidel CD with Ross Law and Nicola McDevitt)
'Come to My Show (If You Wanna Rock)' and 'Anything But You', words and music: Ross Law. All other tracks, words and music: Gordon MacLachlan
Whilst there has been several members of Infidel over the years, the only current member is the founder Gordon MacLachlan; hi-gain guitar junkie, sometime wearer of eyeliner, notable hater of all things indie and lover of all things rock...

Infidel has seen many shapes and forms over the years, although the most notable was when the Demo CD/Album 'If You Wanna Rock' was recorded with Ross Law on vocals and Nicola McDevitt on bass.
Currently, Gordon is pursuing the project on his own, but is looking to form a performing/recording group in the near future.
